Tons of companies (esp tech) are doing layoffs. You won't see most of these companies in the headline news. They are also leveraging the situation to force returning to the office either full time or for most of the week. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see what happens in the next 1-3 years for the tech industry and whether that trickles down to the blue collar industries.

People should also realize tech companies employee tons of non-tech workers - HR, services, suppliers, construction, etc. The only true winner is the tech executive.

It’s interesting to consider how non-traditional workers are taken into account when publishing this data. It does seem like the mass of opportunities moving forward lies within ownership of one’s work. I wonder if, and how this will affect current structures of what have been traditionally job benefits and perks such as retirement plans and health insurance. Awesome read, and investing in oneself is always solid advice!
